Loss of Innocence Myth Series
Myths are often thought of as dreams that arise within a tribe, region, nation, or religion. Certain types of myths are universal in their themes, while certain groups produce mythscapes that reflect the unique aspects of their natural environment or history. Fairy tales can be thought of as a type of myth in that they tend to combine mythic themes into cultural lore.
In this online series, Katrina Messenger will review myths and fairy tales related to the loss of innocence. Children in such tales are forced to undertake journeys that far outstrips their experience levels and exceeds what we would consider an age appropriate expectation.
As our western culture despairs over the seeming loss of childhood innocence as our children are faced everyday with challenges and threats, maybe there is something for us to learn from these ancient sources of deep wisdom.
All seminars are held on Wednesdays from 8 to 9:30 pm.
Seminars are $25 ($20 for Reflections Students).
Sign up for the full series for only $80 ($60 for Reflections Students).
